Together Toward the 2027 Swiss Folk Music Festival

The new Executive Board of the Swiss Folk Music Association (VSV) recently met in Altstätten to get a first-hand look at the venue for the 2027 Swiss National Folk Music Festival (EVMF) in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley. Together with the organizers and representatives of the organizing committee, they took a tour through the picturesque alleys of the old town and to the main festival venues. This provided a first concrete impression of what visitors and musicians can expect in a year’s time. Anticipation was palpable throughout the entire meeting. At the same time, the conviction grew that, together, we will create an unforgettable folk music festival in Altstätten.
In addition to getting to know one another, the meeting also focused on final organizational preparations. With the registration period set to begin at the end of July 2026, the group was able to discuss any outstanding issues. Mutual appreciation and a shared enthusiasm for working together were a recurring theme throughout the meeting. This close collaboration between the Organizing Committee and the VSV forms an important foundation for the coming months. The excitement should now be shared with the cantons to inspire many musicians to participate in the 2027 Swiss Folk Music Festival.
A Dedicated Host for Folk Music
The association is also sending a strong message with regard to festival tickets. The VSV covers a significant and attractive portion of the festival ticket price for its members. Young people up to age 21 who are actively involved in music have their festival tickets—which have already been discounted by the organizing committee—fully funded by the association. In this way, the VSV underscores its commitment to folk music and its next generation of musicians. Anyone who is not yet a member can join the association and also benefit from this attractive perk. A long-term commitment strengthens the association and lays the foundation for providing sustainable support to future generations as well as future Swiss Folk Music Festivals.
